Frequently asked questions

What people ask most before starting a process: what somatic therapy is, what sessions look like, and the practical details for taking the first step.

What is somatic therapy and what is it for?

It's an approach that integrates body, emotion and mind, with strengthening the nervous system's capacity for self-regulation as the foundation for re-signification and deep change. I work from Somatic Experiencing (SE), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Core Energetics and a systemic family perspective, looking in each person for the way in —bodily, emotional or narrative— that's most accessible to them. It helps with anxiety, stress, grief and, more broadly, with reconnecting to your intuition and your capacity to self-regulate.

What is a Somatic Experiencing session like?

In session I track your body's physiological responses while we talk, to locate the unconscious memories that shape your patterns and beliefs, and from there embrace, unravel and process your reason for seeking therapy. Sessions are typically 50 minutes to an hour, biweekly —weekly during moments of crisis— and can be online or in person.

Is it the same as traditional psychotherapy? Who is it for?

I don't work with a menu of approaches, I work with a map: somatic therapy adds a reading of the body and the nervous system to the conversation, instead of staying only in the discourse. I work with adolescents and adults in individual process, with couples, with families, and with growth groups and organizations. Every person arrives with a different level of access to their body, their emotions and their narratives, and a first task of therapy is finding where your system can most readily begin.

Where is the office and how do I get there?

The office is at Georgia 114, Suite 303, Ampliación Nápoles, Benito Juárez, Mexico City (zip 03840) — a short distance from Del Valle, Roma, Condesa and Narvarte. If you'd rather not travel, you can also take your session online. Phone and WhatsApp: +52 55 3202 0488.

Is there parking?

The building doesn't have its own parking; there's metered street parking.

Do you only see clients in person, or also online?

Both are available with the same depth: in person at my office in Ampliación Nápoles, or online by video call (Zoom or an equivalent platform). Many people combine both depending on the moment.

What are your office hours?

I work by appointment, Monday through Friday from 9am to 9pm and Saturdays from 9am to 2pm.

How much does a session cost?

Individual, couples and family therapy share the same cost and session length. A session costs $120 USD. Find the continuity pack and the other services on the costs page.

Do you accept health insurance?

I don't work with health insurance: somatic therapy usually isn't covered by insurance plans, so sessions are paid directly.

Do you work in Spanish and in English?

Yes, sessions can be held in Spanish or in English, whichever is more comfortable for you.

How do I book my first appointment?

Message me on WhatsApp and we'll talk, with no commitment, about your situation and whether this is a good fit. That first message is the step toward booking your first session.

Have another question? Message me directly and we'll sort it out.
